High Speed Railways in China launched |
[2014-07-15] A couple of high speed railways in China have recently started operation. Starting from 1 July, Datong-Xi'an High-speed Railway links the spots from Taiyuan to Xi'an, shortening the travelling time from 10 hours to 3 hours. The fare for this one-way trip is around RMB 266. Besides, the railways from Beijing and Nanjing to Xiamen have also been in service, the total travelling time is about 13 hours respectively. The Lanxin Second Railway, connecting Urumqi with Lanzhou, has successfully launched its trial run last month. It is the first high speed railway being constructed in high altitude area in China, covering Wuwei, Jinchang, Jiuquan, Jiayuguan, Yumen, Hami, Turpan and Urumqi. The travelling time will be shortened from 20 hours to 8 hours. It is expected that this railway will kick off at the end of this year.
