Digitalized the Dunhuang Mogao Caves |
[2014-03-14] To further preserve Mogao Caves in Dunhuang, the precious treasure of ancient Chinese culture, the Dunhuang Academy has been implementing the digital technology to capture images of the murals and scriptures in the caves, and investing over RMB200 million to establish a tourist centre where visitors can enjoy the beautiful art treasures in 3D digital images without deteriorating the original invaluable manuscripts in the caves. The Mogao Caves Tourist Centre is expected to come into service on 1st May. It comprises multimedia display area, a digital theatre, a dome theatre, restaurants, etc. The entrance fee will be RMB60, which includes two digital movies to be shown in the digital theatre and dome theatre respectively, and the round trip transfer between tourist centre and Mogao Caves.
