The 6th UNWTO Int'l Meeting on Silk Road Tourism Held at The Silk Road Dunhuang Hotel |
The 6th UNWTO International Meeting on Silk Road Tourism was successfully held at The Silk Road Dunhuang Hotel 1 – 3 August 2013, in Dunhuang, Gansu Province, China. The Meeting was jointly organized by UNWTO, China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) and Gansu Province of China, and in collaboration with the China Chamber of Tourism, the members of which are China's major tourism operational and investment companies.
There were over 20 countries taking part in the 6th UNWTO International Meeting on Silk Road Tourism and it brought experts in the fields of tourism, marketing, investment and heritage management together to discuss how to raise the profile of Silk Road tourism and drive development that is sustainable, responsible and internationally competitive. The Meeting also addressed how stakeholders could leverage from the Silk Road's positioning and help rebuild the world's most important travel route.
Mr. Peter Wong Man Kong, Executive Chairman of China Chamber of Tourism, President of Culture Resources Development Limited and the founder of The Silk Road Dunhuang Hotel took part in the Meeting as the moderator of the first panel session and also one of the speakers for the panel session 5. In his presentation, he shared with the delegates the heritage and hotel development projects that he has involved, shading lights on how stakeholders could help on the preservation of Silk Road heritage that are invaluable resources from business perspective.
The Meeting provided a precious opportunity for all Silk Road countries to join together and share ideas on promoting sustainable growth along the Silk Road.
